Silver Award - St Clement Danes School

Silver Award

The Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award is an option for our current Year 10 students. Students may apply to start the Silver Award in the summer term of Year 9, and may participate in the award regardless of whether they have previously achieved the Bronze Award.

Silver timescales:

Volunteering section: 6 months

Physical and Skills sections: one section for 6 months and the other section for 3 months

Expedition section: 3 days/2 nights - Training Day, Practice and Qualifying Expeditions

If a student has not completed the Bronze Award,  a further 6 months in either the Volunteering or the longer of the Physical or Skills sections must be undertaken.(Making it 12 months in total)

The students will need to find an assessor for each of their three sections. This person must have an interest or expertise in the section and NOT be a family member. The students will meet with their assessor BEFORE they start their section to discuss their aims. The assessor will then monitor progress and write a report at the end of the time. The report will need to be submitted to, or photographed and uploaded to the participants eDofE account.

How much does it cost?

The cost of registering for the award is £35. This covers the welcome pack and an administration charge to the Licenced Organisation.

The other costs are for the expedition which is approximately £250, if completed with school (exact costs will be confirmed once numbers have been established). The other sections costs will depend on which sections are chosen. Online registration is via this link. (Link will become activated after the second Bronze expedition in June)
